Make your eventsfun again.
Throwing a party or running an event? Start a Banter room and everyone there joins in seconds with just a name. Announcements, photos, polls and games in one place, no numbers to collect, and it all disappears when the night ends.
Coming soon to iPhone and Android. Free for hosts and guests.
You bring the people.
Keep the party going.
- Guests scan your QR at the door and they're in the chat
- Trivia, Charades and Never Have I Ever when the energy dips
- Polls to settle the playlist, the food and the after-party spot
- View-once snaps, so what happens at the party stays there
- Nobody ends up in a group they never asked to join
Run the room, not a WhatsApp group.
- One QR on the screen, the programme or the table cards, and everyone's in
- Announcements, schedule changes and photos reach everyone at once
- Live polls and anonymous Q&A for talks, panels and sermons
- Approve who gets in; mute or ban anyone who spams
- It closes when your event does. Nothing to clean up after
Guest list to group chat.
Start your room
Name it after your party or event, choose who gets in, and hit go. Your phone runs it on the venue WiโFi, or starts its own hotspot when there isn't any.
Guests scan and join
Put your QR on a screen, a table card or the door. Guests pick a name and they're in. No sign-up, no swapping numbers.
The night ends, so does the chat
End the room when you wrap up, or it closes itself after 24 hours. Messages, photos and videos are wiped from every phone.
Everything the night needs.
No venue WiโFi? No problem.
Your Android phone starts its own hotspot. Guests scan one QR code to join the network and your room in a single step, iPhones included. No internet needed, all night.
Invite links
Guests on mobile data? Start an online room and put the invite link on your flyer or invite. It works from anywhere.
Photos, videos & view once
Everyone's shots in one place, plus PDFs like the programme or menu. View-once snaps can't be screenshotted.
Live polls
Best dressed, next song, where the after-party is. Results fill in live, and anonymous polls hide every vote.
Anonymous Q&A
Take questions for the speaker or the couple, or ask the room for honest answers. No names attached. Ever.
You run the room
Approve guests at the door, cap the room size, block screenshots, and mute or ban gatecrashers. Spammers get auto-muted before you even notice.
Feels like your favourite chat
Replies, @tags, reactions and captions your guests already know. Messages resend if the WiโFi blips, and anyone who drops off keeps their name for two minutes.
No more dead moments.
When the energy dips or the speaker runs late, start a game right in the chat. Your phone runs it, so it works with no internet at all, and new games and packs keep arriving.
Trivia
Kahoot-style rounds across 8 categories, from Africa to Movies & TV. Faster answers score more.
Never Have I Ever
Classic or spicy ๐ถ๏ธ. Play it anonymous and only the counts show. The most guilty still get crowned.
Imposter
Everyone gets the secret word except one. Give clues, vote, and catch the liar before they guess it.
Charades
Act out the word on your screen while the room shouts guesses. Got it, skip, next. Pure chaos.
What happens here, stays here.
No numbers to collect
Guests join with just a name. You never see their phone numbers, and they never see yours.
Wiped when it ends
Messages, photos and videos are deleted from every phone. Private rooms end after 24 hours at most. Public Banter rooms run for up to 7 days (staff can extend them), and Banter deletes their messages when they end.
End-to-end encrypted
In private rooms, messages, photos, videos and voice notes are locked on your phone. Only people in the room can open them, not even Banter. (Public Banter rooms are not encrypted.)
Screenshots, handled
Hosts can block them for the whole room, and everyone sees when someone takes one.
Anonymous means anonymous
Anonymous answers and votes never carry a name, not even to the host.
Rough location only
Nearby rooms use your area to about 100 m, and only if you turn it on.
Honest note: to run a room, names, reactions, polls and games aren't encrypted, so the host's phone (or our server, for online rooms) can see them. The privacy policy lists exactly what.
Questions? Fair.
How many guests can join?+
Up to 50 people in a room on your phone, you included. Hosting online? Up to 200 in one room, so a bigger crowd fits.
Do my guests need internet?+
No. Rooms on the venue WiโFi or your phone's hotspot work with no internet at all, games included. Online rooms and invite links need data.
Does everyone need the app?+
Yes, guests join from the free Banter app. Joining takes a name and a scan, so put your QR somewhere everyone can see it.
Can I keep gatecrashers out?+
Turn on "Let people in myself" and approve each guest, or make an online room invite only. You can remove, mute or ban anyone, and a ban sticks to their phone, not just their name.
Can I use it for a wedding, conference or church event?+
Yes. Announcements, photos, live polls and anonymous Q&A work for any gathering, and the room closes when you're done.
What happens after the party?+
End the room, or it closes after 24 hours. Its chat, photos and videos are deleted from every phone, so there's no group to leave and nothing left behind.
When can I get it?+
Banter is with testers right now. It's coming to the App Store and Google Play soon.
Your party's group chat.
Banter is coming to iPhone and Android. Free for hosts and guests, no numbers, no trace.
